EXECUTIVES

Co-Presidents:

Erica Dove & Nirusa Nadesar

Erica is a PhD student in RSI and is excited to be one of the Co-Presidents of the RSGSU. She is looking forward to supporting all the great initiatives that RSGSU runs, and working with the students, faculty, and staff to make the most of the RSI experience! Erica obtained her MSc from RSI in 2021.

Nirusa is a second year MSc student and looking forward to being one of the Co-Presidents for the RSGSU this year. She hopes to facilitate some great events and initiatives this year and is optimistic that we can all meet each other in person soon. 

Vice President

Matthew Metcalfe

Matthew is in the final year of his MSc. He is excited to serve as the RSGSU Vice President and one of the Social and Service Committee Co-Presidents. Matthew hopes to help improve the RSI student experience through community building during these difficult times. 

Treasurer

Lina Musa

Lina is a MSc student at RSI. She looks forward to facilitating and being a part of impactful initiatives at RSI. She will also be representing RSGSU at the GSU for a second year. She hopes to enhance the graduate student experience at RSI. 

Secretary

Claire Hiscock

Claire is a settler of Irish ancestry, born in Toronto and raised in Texas. She completed a Master’s in Public Health specializing in Indigenous health at the University of Toronto. Claire is currently a Ph.D. student, and her doctoral research focuses on Indigenous health and Lyme Disease. She loves canoe tripping.

Mental Health Committee

Nirusa Nadesar & Chelsea Tanchip

Nirusa is a second year MSc student and alongside the Co-Presidency role, she will also be the Co-Chair for the Mental Health Committee. She is a long-time mental health advocate and hopes to support the mental health needs of all the RSI students this year! 

Mentorship Committee

Olivia Du, Lovisa Cheung, & Michelle Legasto

Olivia is a second year MSc student and is excited to be the Mentorship Program Lead. She hopes to promote a smooth transition into graduate life and graduate studies for all incoming students through fostering strong and positive mentor-mentee relations and holding engaging events.
Michelle is a physiotherapist and third year PhD candidate. She is excited to be taking on the role of Mentorship Committee Co-Chair and to develop events and initiatives that will help RSI students get meaningful mentorship through their graduate journey and beyond.  
Lovisa is a resident physiotherapist and a 2nd year PhD student at RSI. She is excited to co-chair the Mentorship Committee, as she is a strong advocate for mentorship. Lovisa is looking forward to organizing engaging workshops and events for mentors and mentees!

rehabINK

Tina Ziebart & Steph Cimino

Tina Ziebart is a physiotherapy resident and certified exercise physiologist, studying to complete her PhD. Tina joined RehabINK to be part of an amazing team working to disseminate rehabilitation knowledge. RehabINK provides a really nice platform to collaborate with other rehab-researchers that are like-minded, but can still provide a unique perspective to other aspects of rehabilitation.

Steph is a third year PhD student and is excited to be taking on the role of Co-Editor-In-Chief of rehabINK. She is looking forward to the opportunity to collaborate with a new editor team from across Ontario and to foster new connections to expand authorship and readership!

Research Day Committee

Wade Michaelchuck & Beatrice Manduchi

Wade is a third year PhD candidate who is looking forward to another year of planning for RSI Research Day and is excited to provide students with an interactive and engaging platform to share their research.

I am Beatrice Manduchi, third year PhD candidate in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology. I am thrilled to co-chair the RSI Research Day 2022 Committee, an incredible initiative to showcase top-notch research projects and empower graduate students in rehabilitation sciences.

Lauren DiNola is a second year MSc student and is excited to be one of the co-chairs of the Speaking Series and Social & Services Committee. She is looking forward to planning engaging events for the RSI community.

Daniela is a first year PhD student at RSI. She is looking forward to planning engaging and interesting speakers on up and coming topics in rehabilitation!

Kai Leung & Vjura Senthilnathan

After completing her MSc at RSI, Kai is returning as a first year PhD student. As the chair of the Student Awards Committee, she is looking forward to working with this year’s committee to help award RSI students for their hard work and achievements.

Vjura is a first-year MSc student at RSI. She is excited to contribute to the innovation, leadership, and community that RSI students have created by working with this year’s committee to celebrate their dedication and hard work.
